In-School
Entomologist Program Some
schools have an In-House Musician, other schools have an In-House
Artist...we recommend an In-School Entomologist!
We
currently offer four-week programs at your school with The Bug Lady or
The Bug Guy. The programs are titled:
-
Junior
Entomologists in the Field - this program introduces students to
the field techniques entomologists use to observe insects.
Students participate in outdoor activities for the majority of the
time spent on these lessons. Four lessons titled 1.)
Introduction to your school's bugs and their habitats; 2.) Ground
Bugs; 3.) Shrub Bugs; 4.) Sweep-netting and Aerial Bugs.
Students learn what an entomologist does in teh field, how to take
'notes', an entomologist's essential tools and the common bugs seen
outdoors. This program is best delivered in September,
October, April, May or June.
-
Cultural
Entomology - Insects have influenced many cultures. These
lessons explore the aspects of culture and are titled: 1.) First
Nations Insect Stories; 2.) Insects as Human Food; 3.) The Literary
Bug and 4.) Bugs in Ancient History.
-
Bug
Diversity - this program is a great introduction to the
incredible diversity of the bug world. This program covers all
the major insect groups, as well as some arachnids.

we

to the start of Bug Day
-
We
also send you a detailed explanation of how the event works.

If
you have more than 150 students enroll, the program length increases
by 1/2 hour per 25 students.
-
We
bring staff to accommodate the increase in enrollment.
